DIN-rail Industrial PC

What is a DIN-Rail PC or DIN-Rail-Mountable PC?

A DIN-Rail PC, also known as a DIN-Rail-Mountable PC, is a compact, robust industrial PC specifically designed for use in industrial environments. The term "DIN rail" is derived from the standardized mounting rail used for installing electrical and electronic components in control cabinets. These rails, often made of steel or aluminum, are available in sizes 35x15 mm and 35x7.5 mm and comply with the DIN EN 50022 standard.

The short designation for these rails is now TH 35 (previously TS 35).

DIN-Rail Mounting of Industrial PCs

DIN-Rail PCs are designed to be mounted directly onto DIN rails, enabling easy integration into existing systems. Many industrial PCs offer optional mounting accessories for DIN-rail installation.

The more compact and lightweight an industrial PC is, the better it is suited for DIN-rail mounting. This minimizes the tipping moment, as seen in the POC-400 shown in the image.

The manufacturer's manual explains how the device can be easily snapped into a DIN rail, as shown in Figure 3.

Industrial PCs with DIN-rail mounting are typically compatible with both the deeper (15 mm) and the flatter (7.5 mm) variants of DIN rails.

Example: The Neousys POC-400

An example is the Neousys POC-400, equipped with a side-mounted DIN-rail clip. With compact dimensions of 56.5x107.5x153.3 mm and a weight of 960 grams, this model is ideal for DIN-rail mounting, as its low weight ensures minimal tipping moment.
