Key factors in the selection of panel PCs:

  • Robustness: Panel PCs for industrial applications have a robust housing and are protected against the ingress of dust, dirt and moisture. Observe the IP protection classes of DIN EN 60529 and IEC 60529.
  • Processors: The performance of all PCs depends largely on the processors installed. The following applies across the board: the newer the processor generation, the faster and more efficient the (panel) PC works.
  • Touchscreen: a basic distinction is made between resistive and capacitive touchscreens. Both types have advantages and disadvantages. Resistive touchscreens are predominantly used in the industrial sector because they are more robust and less expensive. Nevertheless, check whether a capacitive touchscreen is also suitable for your application. Capacitive touchscreens usually offer a better image and are more user-friendly.   • Ambient temperature: Panel PCs are designed for operation in wide temperature ranges in industrial environments. Observe the manufacturer's specifications for the tested temperature ranges.
  • Energy efficiency: In times of rising energy costs, efficiency is more important than ever. Ensure low power consumption, even in standby mode.
