The Intel Pentium B960 is an entry-level dual-core processor for notebooks that was introduced in Q4 2011. It offers two cores and is based on the Sandy Bridge architecture. Compared to the Core i3, i5 and i7 dual-core processors, however, some features are disabled (Turbo Boost, HyperThreading, VT-x, VT-d, Trusted Execution, AES).
The integrated graphics card called HD Graphics (as in the old Arrandale CPUs) clocks at 650 or 1100 MHz (Turbo Boost) and is based on the HD Graphics 2000 (significantly slower than the Intel HD Graphics 3000 in the Core i3 processors). In addition, a DDR3 dual channel memory controller for up to 16GB DDR3-1333 is integrated in the processor.
Thanks to the improved architecture, the performance is slightly above a similarly clocked Arrandale CPU and should thus be on par with a Core i3-330M with 2.13 GHz, HyperThreading and 3MB cache.
The Sandy Bridge dual-core processors also include the graphics card and memory controller in the specified TDP of 35 watts. With 35W TDP, the processor is best suited for 14" notebooks and larger.
The processor supports up to 16GB of DDR3 RAM memory.
