Since about the mid-1950s, computers have been considered to rule a segment of cognitive intelligence. They are able to respond, to a limited extent, to environmental stimuli and draw logical conclusions.

From the beginning of the 21st century on, computers are enabled to learn independently. More precisely, Artificial intelligence uses statistical methods for analyzing large amounts of data in order to acquire knowledge, and to apply it, e.g., by making predictions. Machine learning includes methods such as rule generation, clustering and “Artificial neural networks”. Currently, the ultimate Artificial Intelligence discipline is “Deep learning.”

AI can be implemented today on compact Industrial PCs that can perform almost unimaginable computing feats. The prime example of this is Autonomous driving. However, the extent to which AI is being used today in science and research, in Industry 4.0, in administration, in facial and speech recognition, in social networks, etc., can hardly be overlooked.
